Reindeer Treats

Hi everyone!  Are you starting to get in the holiday mood yet?  I know I am!  I'm in graduate nursing school and I just finished my last exam (yipee!).  Now I feel like I can actually start celebrating the holiday season.  One of my favorite activities during the holidays is making treats for my family and friends.  Today I want to share with you a tag I made to go along with a sweet treat - white chocolate peppermint chex mix.

For these tags I used Lawn Fawn's Into the Woods stamp set, Milo's ABCs stamp set,  Winter Gifts stamp set and dies, and Peace, Joy, Love sequins.  I started by stamping and die cutting my tag.  I colored and cut out the reindeer and added a felt scarf.  I made some rolling hills with gray card stock and used iced spruce distress ink to give dimension to the scene.  I adhered the reindeer with foam tape and stamped the sentiment in enchanted evening by PTI.  I finished the scene off with silver and blue centered snowflakes.

Here's a closer look:

I am going to enter this project into the current Lawnscaping Challenge.  This week is a color challenge using arctic colors - how fun this time of year!

Thanks for visiting today and happy crafting!

Lawnscaping Winter Blog Hop!

Hi there and happy Friday!  I am excited that today has finally arrived...it's time for the Lawnscaping Winter Blog Hop!  The theme of this hop is winter and I'm thrilled to be a part of it because I adore all things Lawn Fawn AND this is my first time participating in a blog hop (yay)!  If you are following along on the hop, you should have come here from Cheryl Hutcherson's blog.

My ALL-TIME favorite winter animal is the penguin and I've had this design in mind for a while. Here is the card that I created for today:

I used Lawn Fawn's Critters in the Snow stamp set (penguins, reindeer, and igloo), Winter Bunny (sleigh), Let it Snow (sentiment), Sweet Christmas (trees), Hats Off to You (santa hat), Year Two (presents), and Bake Me a Cake (christmas lights).  I started by masking the moon and inking the background of the scene with Chipped Sapphire, Salty Ocean, and Iced Spruce distress inks and used Perfect Pearls mist to create some sparkle in the sky.  I added fine glitter to the snowbank to create dimension and an icy effect.  From the Winter Bunny Stamp set, I made Santa's sleigh by masking off the bunny. I cut and colored the penguins, reindeer, igloo, and trees and adhered them to the scene.

And of course, even penguins need some fun Christmas decorations, so I added "lights" to the igloo.  I finished the scene off with red lawn trimmings and a gold bell for rudolph.  The final card came to 7 x 4.5 inches.  Here's another look:

The next stop on the hop is Valerie Ward's blog.  Be sure to check out all of the projects on the hop.  I know I'm excited to see what these talented ladies have created! Lawnscaping has put together a lot of great prizes, so make sure to leave some love at every stop along the way by Sunday, 12/15 at 11:59PM EST.

Thanks for coming by and happy crafting!

Lawnscaping Challenge #69

Hey guys!  I'm back with another card I made for the current Lawnscaping Challenge to make a project where the sentiment stands out.

I've had an idea in mind for several days and I'm glad I had some free time today to work on it since this is the last day to submit...phew!  I really like the look of chalkboard cards and have been wanting to try the technique for awhile.  I thought that the chalkboard would be a good background for a Lawn Fawn sentiment collage.  Here is the card I created:

This was fun because I always have a hard time picking a sentiment go with a card and with this card, I didn't have to make a decision :)

I used sentiments from all of my Christmas Lawn fawn sets and made a few custom sentiments with Milo's ABCs  (quickly becoming one of my favorite letter sets).  I embossed the sentiments and snowflakes in white.  The chalkboard technique was fairly easy, and I found that color box pigment ink in frost white worked well to create the look.  I used a larger dauber and inked up the sentiments.  I took a paper towel after to blend in some of the areas.  Here is a closer look:

I finished off the look with holly (from Winter Gifts by Lawn Fawn) with glossy accents and clear gems.  I mounted the collage on patterned paper (from Peace, Joy, Love by Lawn Fawn) with red lawn trimmings.

That's all I have for today...thanks for dropping by and happy crafting!

Let it Snow Tag

Hi guys!  I want to share with you a simple tag I made today.  I love to decorate presents with my own tags and ribbon.  Last year I waited too long and I was making tags up to the last minute.  I decided I need to start early!  Here is the tag I made:

I am going to play along with the current 10-Minute Craft Dash Challenge.  I completed the tag in 7 minutes and 30 seconds.  The challenge is all about featuring buttons in the design.

Since this is a simple tag, I'm also going to link it up to the Simon Says Stamp Challenge

Thanks for coming by and happy crafting!

Owl I Want for Christmas

Hey guys!  I want to share with you a card I made today.  I was so inspired by Yainea's card that she made for the last Lawnscaping Challenging.  Her card is so sweet and I fell in love with those cuddling owls!  Well..back to the card I made.  Here it is:

I thought a snow globe shaker card would be perfect for this scene.  This was my first attempt at a shaker card, and it was easier that I thought it would be!  Since the sentiment pops out in the scene, I'm going to link this card up with the current Lawnscaping Challenge # 69 .

Hope everyone has a great weekend!  Thanks for coming by and happy crafting!

Lawnscaping Challenge #68

Hi there!  Hope everyone had a great weekend!  I worked all weekend, so I spent the day at home relaxing and making cards.  I want to share with you a card I made for the current Lawnscaping Challenge.  This challenge is all about creating a project inspired by Pinterest.

The hardest part of this challenge was selecting just one pin!  I know I'm guilty of spending hours at a time on Pinterest.  This is the pin that inspired my card:

My mom and I moved to Virginia from Louisiana about 10 years ago, and one of my most favorite memories is seeing a deer for the first time.  Here is my take on the pin:

I know it is not even Halloween yet, but something about the recent chilly weather and this sweet deer put me in the holiday mood.  I used distress inks (faded jeans, milled lavender, and dusty concord) to make the background for the scene and used water drops to give the appearance of snow.  The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn Let it Snow and is stamped on PTI Pure Poppy.  I embossed snowflakes around the sentiment.  I finished the scene off with pearl glitter mist.  Here is a closer look:

Hope everyone has a great week!  Thanks for coming by and happy crafting!

10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge #28

Hey there!  This week I am playing along with the 10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge. This challenge is about making a project using the colors lipstick red, turquoise, and olive green in 10 minutes or less.

I tried to come up with a simple design because during the last challenge, I went over my time!

I don't know about you, but I am a sucker for embellishments.  Whether they sparkle, shine, or are just plain cute, I will buy them.  So for this card, I wanted to use some of my fun embellishments (which would hopefully allow me to finish on time :).  And it worked...I finished my project in 8 minutes and 55 seconds!

Here is the card I created:

I love the style of the thank you stamp.  I just signed up for a calligraphy class and I'm really excited to learn calligraphy.  Well, that is all I have for today.  Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!

Lawnscaping Challenge #67

Hello there!  I'm here to share with you a card I made for the Lawnscaping Challenge.  This week it is all about using pattern paper in the design.

This is a really fun challenge because there are so many different ways to incorporate pattern paper.  I decided I need more thank you cards, so here is the card I made for the challenge:

I used paper from Into the Woods and Peace, Joy, and Love.  I have to say, I LOVE the woodgrain paper from the Into the Woods paper set, and already have another paper pack on my wish list for this month :)  Here is a closer look:

To finish the card, I used Wink of Stella to add gold glitter to the sunflower and glossy accents to the heart.

I'm also going to play along with the Simon Says Stamp Challenge to make a card with a clear stamp.

Thanks for visiting and happy crafting!

Happy Fall!

Hello everyone!  It has been awhile since my last posting.  I just started graduate school, and it has been an exciting (and interesting) transition.  I really like my program and I finally have a routine down, so I have more free time.  I have been so preoccupied with school and work lately that I have not been enjoying my favorite season of all time...fall!  With the leaves changing colors and the cooler temperatures, I am really getting excited for this time of the year.

Can I just say how much I LOVE the new lawn fawn stamps!  They are perfect for fall and I am really enjoying playing with my new supplies.  Here is the card I made today:

I just adore the Critters in Costume and couldn't resist the bunny popping out of the pumpkin.  I colored the coordinating leaves with copics and added some glitter for extra pop.  I used paper from Into the Woods for the background.  I wanted a fun card shape to match the playful scene, so I used scalloped circle dies for the card.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Lawnscaping Challenge #63

Hi Everyone!  I'm back to share with you a card I made for the Lawnscaping Challenge this week.  The theme for this challenge is to make a project using only ONE layer!  That's right - no die cuts, stickles, or cute sequins...oh my!

Here's the one layer I made for this challenge:

This was a really fun challenge for me because it made me plan ahead...something I do not do that often :)

Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!

Distress Marker Background

Hello Everyone!  Today I wanted to share with you a few cards that I made this week using distress markers as a background.  The first card is for my husband's birthday.  I knew I wanted to do something colorful for his card and here's what I created:

I used several distress markers to create a rainbow background for the PTI birthday die cut and border.  My husband really likes turtles, so I knew I had to get this little guy as soon as I saw this Lawn Fawn set in stores.  I colored the turtle with some distress markers and added some stickles to the party hat.  I finished the card with a PTI balloon die cut and pink lemonade twine.

I am always surprised by how much supplies I usually have left over after a project.  I had plenty of the rainbow background left and no plans for the day.  Well, what's a crafter to do...make more cards!  Here's what I came up with:

I just love coming up with different ways to use scraps from previous cards.  I am definitely going to think about materials and future projects before throwing them in the trash.

Thanks for stopping by today and Happy Crafting!

Lawnscaping Challenge #62

Hello Everyone!  This week I am playing along with Lawnscaping to create a card using paper-piecing!

This is such a fun technique and one of the best parts is putting different patterns of cardstock together.  Here's the card I created for this challenge:

The hardest part of the challenge was picking which Lawn Fawn stamp set to use.  I decided to go with Blue Skies and I am really happy with how it turned out.  I will be sending this card to my sister-in-law who has been studying all summer for her upcoming bar exam.  Here's another look:

Birthday Present

Hello Everyone!  I hope you are enjoying your weekend so far.  It is a gorgeous day and I'm excited to spend some time outside with my dog Miles.  First, I want to share with you a card I made this morning.

For this card, I took various pieces of washi tape and attached them to a square piece of cardstock.  I used the Impression Obsession bow die to cut a bow out of glitter cardstock to finish the look.  I stamped the sentiment, which is from Papertrey Ink, in Peacock Feathers.  I added a few silver glitter hearts because who doesn't love a little extra sparkle :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday!  Happy Crafting!

Just Because...

Hello Everyone!   Hope everyone is having a great week so far.

For me, one of the best things about being a crafter is the excitement you get to experience when someone receives your project.  Now that my husband is spending most of his life in the hospital and I have more free time, my goal is to send a weekly "just because" card to someone in my life.  This week, I will be sending a card to my mother.

I am extremely blessed to have such a close relationship with my mother.  If you ask one of my family members, they would say that my mother and I are two peas in a pod.  And one of the best things about our relationship is that we share a favorite hobby together.  Yes, my mother is my partner in crime card-making!  We often spend hours in our local crafting store or trying a new technique at home together.  Sometimes we only finish one card, but no matter what, we always have such a great time coming up with new ideas together.  This inspired the card I made today {close your eyes mom!}.

I love elephants, so I knew I needed the Bella with Friends stamp by Wild Rose Studio as soon as I saw it.  I started the card by stamping the scene in gray ink.  I used copics to color the elephants and butterflies.  For the grass, I wanted more of a watercolor appearance, so I colored the grass with Inktense Pencils.  Here's a closer look:

I wanted to add more movement and dimension to the scene, so I used distress inks to create a cloudy background.  I think the sentiment is perfect for my mom because of the special time we get to spend together doing something we both love!  Love ya mom!

Mom and I after my husband's graduation
That's all I have for today.  Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting :)

Happy Birthday Card!

Hi Everyone!  Sorry for the lack of posts recently, but it has been a very busy time for my family right now.  My husband is about to start his internal medicine residency program.  We are very fortunate that we both have time off and we have been spending a lot of time together before he gets too busy with his program.  Of course, I still found time to take a SLIGHT detour on one of our day trips to a stamping store where I found a very cute beehive stamp.  I used the stamp to help create a card for a friend's birthday.

I used the Flower Bursts Pattern by Hero Arts to create the background for this card.  After embossing the background, I added bright color with Shaded Lilac and Pickled Raspberry Distress Inks.  I colored the beehive and bees with copics and adhered them with foam tape to create dimension in the scene.

I am playing along with Lawnscaping Challenge this week.  It is all about creating dimension with your project.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Happy BARKday!

Hello Everyone!  Today I made a card for Lawnscaping Challenge #59.  This week it is all about coloring!

Here is my take on this week's challenge:

I used the Critters at the Dog Park stamps and coordinating die cuts to create this birthday barkday scene.  This is one of my favorite new sets from Lawn Fawn, and I adore the coordinating dies, which make it so easy to have fun with the stamps!  I colored the dogs with copic markers.  Here is a closer look:

I wanted to bring some bright color in, so I selected paper from Funky Town by PTI for the background and birthday hats.  The sentiment was made using the Claire's ABCs by Lawn Fawn.

That's all I have for today.  Thanks for visiting and happy crafting!
